Team Naish Sets the Bar At The 2014 Molokai2Oahu
July 27, 2014 – The 18th Annual Molokai2Oahu Paddleboard World Championships (M2O) has just wrapped up after delivering unbelievably fast conditions to an international field of top paddle boarders.
Team Naish stepped up the level of competition this year by breaking records and taking the win in various Relays across the board. Naish’s Riggs Napoleon and father Aaron smashed the 14’ 2-man Relay record with a time of 4:29:33, putting their names down in the record books as the time to beat for years to come.
Naish’s rising star Manca Notar partnered with mentor Michi Schweiger again this year to take out the 14’ Mixed Relay while Tahiti’s Yannick Lii & Siri Shubert blasted into 3rd in the 14’ Mixed Relay. Naish Tahiti’s Stephen Frogier & Laurent Grimaud finished 1st in the 14’ 2-man Relay while Chuck Patterson & Thomas Maximus placed a notable 2nd in the 14’ 2-man Relay within their respected age group. Naish Japan’s Yoshiaki Nagamatsu also crossed the line in 1st for the STK (M30-39) category! Team Naish didn’t stop there though…
After a tight contest early – where the top five favorite singles for the Men (Connor, Scott, Kai, Dave and Travis) were all within shouting distance – the pack soon split up into smaller pairs where each rider became engaged in epic duels with one another right to the finish line. Naish’s Kai Lenny lead the pack with a blistering pace for much of the 32 mile race and settled for a well-earned 4th place using his 17’ Unlimited Naish SUP board (4:23:45).

Huge congrats also go out to Naish Australia’s Brad Gaul & surfing legend Tom Carroll for placing 4th in the 14’ 2-man Relay (and 7th overall) and Suzie Cooney & Stephen Ross for crossing the line in 5th in the 14’ Mixed Relay!
Congratulations to all those that participated and especially Team Naish for their outstanding effort throughout every mile of this race. Amazing job!
