"We’ve retained the stiffness and reliability of high-grade aluminum alloy, but completely overhauled the architecture to make your ride smoother and more direct than ever before.
In the creation of the new ALU Alpha fuselage, we had 2 main goals: 1) increase the stiffness and 2) decrease the drag.
We were able to achieve a 30% increase in stiffness over our legacy system by widening the clamping footprint, switching to M8 bolts and reducing the scarf joint area; allowing more carbon to run from tip to tip through the center of the front wing.
The alpha system has 2 mounting options: a 2-hole position for the smaller span foils and a 3-hole position for the larger span foils, making it so you only need one fuse to cover our entire range of foils.
The redesigned profile of the fuselage takes inspiration from nature's fastest fish. The tapered teardrop shape eliminates any flat surfaces or hard edges that negatively affect the flow around the fuselage.
We have also fully integrated the stabilizer into the fuselage - reducing the drag and allowing for a cleaner release as the foil passes through the water.
The profile change and stabilizer integration, combined with the streamlining of the fuselage, cut drag by up to 45% compared to our legacy system.
Even though the front wing and stabilizer connections have changed, we felt it was most important to retain the fuselage’s connection to the mast.
The mini-tuttle connection system is so reliable that other brands are starting to convert to this. The result is a system that is completely back compatible with your current Naish mast, so all you need to do is upgrade your plane to feel the performance gains.
The decision to make the fuselage out of aluminium was piggybacked on keeping the mini-tuttle connection. The Aluminium allows us to create a reliable and stiff connection while keeping the cross-sectional area down.
Maintaining the modular 3-piece design of our legacy system allows you to mimic the performance of a monoblock construction while keeping the price down and making it easier and cheaper to build up your quiver of foils.
The new ALU Alpha Fuselage comes in 2 sizes; a 64cm size for maximum stability and control and a 57 cm for dynamic maneuverability.
The standout feature here is our new α Connection System. Depending on your foil size, you can configure this with either two or three M8 bolts. This versatility allows you to mount larger, higher-aspect foils, like the new Excalibur and Siren, without needing a specialty fuselage.
The result? A 30% increase in stiffness over our Legacy system.
Even though the front wing and stabilizer connection to the fuselage has changed, we felt it was most important to retain the fuselage’s connection system to the mast - a connection system so reliable that other brands are starting to convert to this. In addition to the structural improvements, we have streamlined the entire profile with a visible tear-drop outline. This, combined with the new fully integrated stabilizer assembly, reduces turbulence and cuts drag by up to 45% compared to our Legacy fuselage. It gives you a much cleaner, more seamless feel through the water.
Overall, this new system is a modular 3-piece assembly, allowing you to easily swap wings, fuselages, and stabilizers. This allows you to plug and play with your foil setup in a cost-effective way because you do not need to pay for an additional fuselage every time you buy a front wing or stabilizer, compared to monocoque systems. The fuselage is available in two lengths: the 64 cm for maximum stability, or the 57 cm for total maneuverability. The Aluα Fuselage: more speed, more control, and a solid, predictable ride. Check it out."
