The 3rd race of the Hellenic SUP CUP 2013 left behind loads of memories on Andros Island, Greece during the weekend of September 7 & 8th.
It all began with an exciting battle in the Long Distance Race, where winds worked to the competitor’s advantage in the beginning, but after the first turn, winds changed direction, forcing paddlers to dig deep to finish the 2.5 miles course through rocky coast lines and Aegean blue waters. A job well done to the below top finishers!
Men:
1- George Fragos placed 1st (NAISH Javelin LE 14’0”)
2- George Konstantis 2nd (NAISH Javelin LE 14’0”)
3- Akis Hrisohou (NAISH Javelin 12’6’’)
Women:
1- Konstantina Kontarini (NAISH Javelin LE 14’0″)
2- Poly Pilou (NAISH Glide 14’0″)
3- Ioanna Saravanou
DAY 2 of the event began with the Women’s SUP Sprint Race, where a record breaking number of paddlers battled it out in 20 heats, with winner Lea Stalhman taking 1st. The day closed with the always exciting SUP Relays, with George Fragos and his team (Antonis Dimas, Lea Stalhman and Tasos Monastiriotis) as the final champions.
