Casper Steinfath Gets Gold Medal Hat Trick at Danish SUP Championships
September 2, 2018, Copenhagen, Denmark – In a close battle with his fellow Vikings, Naish’s Casper Steinfath took his Maliko 14’0” x24 to three gold medals at the Danish SUP Race Championships.
Host of last years ISA SUP World Championships, Denmark has continued to emerge as a country full of talented paddlers with Casper leading the charge. “The sun was shining and temperatures were relatively warm as the the first day of autumn hit Denmark and over 130 fresh Danes gathered for the 2018 SUP Race Championship in Copenhagen. It was a spectacle in itself to see so many stoked faces on the water celebrating the growth of the SUP Sport in Denmark,” said Casper.
“I am really happy with my results this weekend in what was my 8th Danish SUP Race Championship event. In a fierce battle with my fellow Viking Christian Andersen, I managed to secure gold medals in the Technical Race, Long Distance and 200 Meter Sprint,” exclaimed Casper after getting the hat trick.
This was Caspers first big event competing on the 2019 Maliko 14’0” x24 and proved once again that this is one board that can perform on any stage. “The new 2019 Naish Maliko 14’0” x24 was a dream to paddle on through the mixed waters of Copenhagen, where we got a fair portion of mixed conditions. Waves, boat wakes, upwind, downwind and the occasional flatwater – This weekend had it all and once again proved to be the perfect playground for the Maliko!”
After the Danish SUP Race Championships Casper heads into a very busy fall with the European SUP Championships, APP World Tour New York, Pacific Paddle Games in California and a return to defend his title at Red Bull Heavy Water. “This weekend was a perfect warm up for the European SUP Championship which kicks off on Wednesday on Sardinia in Italy. In Sardinia I will be chasing my 5th European SUP Race Champion Title. I am very happy with the shape of my body and the shape of my equipment before entering two of the most hectic weeks of my year with the APP World Tour in New York taking place right after Sardinia. I can’t wait for all the action. Game ON!” Be sure to follow Casper on social media for all the up to date action from Naish’s Viking on the run.
