Naish’s Kai Lenny Pulls A “Hat-Trick”: 2013 Stand up Surfing Champion / 2013 Stand up Racing Champion / 2013 BOP Champion
Kai Lenny and his Naish Hokua 8’0” LE have just sliced and diced their way to yet another World Title in Stand up Paddle Surfing by winning the Naish La Torche Pro in France.
“This is like a dream come true – I’ve always wanted to have a collection of World Champion titles! I’m totally beside myself…I absolutely loved this competition-it was soooo much fun!” -Kai Lenny
Kai is undeniably the most decorated paddler in the sport’s current history, and he has the rap sheet to prove it. Not only did he clench his 2nd World Stand up Paddle Racing Title at Turtle Bay just a few short weeks ago, he just recently solidified his 3rd World Title in Stand up Paddle Surfing (’10, ’11, ’13) at the La Torche Pro, making this his 5th World Title overall.
2013 is another year that will go down in the books for Kai as he lead the overall Stand up World Tour rankings with 2 wins (Sunset and Huntington) and a 5th place in Brazil, showing incredible form, strength and positivity as he plowed his way through event after event to eventually claim what was rightfully his. It was at the La Torche Pro where he broke out his big guns and conquered massive swells as if he was just warming up on a nice summer day, taking out the competition one by one with ease as his waterman skills played into the choppy conditions nicely.
We are stoked to be part of Kai’s success and to be able to give him, and the rest of the team, the boards and paddles they need to perform on the highest level. With the development of the Wave LE series and Javelin LE series we are able to develop pro-performance that trickles its features right into boards for everybody.
Also worthy of a mention and applause were Naish’s Kody Kerbox (4th) who was on fire this year with strong finishes at every event and Australia’s Beau Nixon (9th) who’s making his way up the ranks as a force to be reckoned with as the events roll by. Congrats for rounding out the top 10 in the 2013 Stand up World Tour!
Sending you overwhelming amounts of congrats Kai – you’ve worked hard for this…enjoy it, relish the moment, and be proud. We certainly are.
