On the weekend of September 29th, the Naish Paddle Against Plastic was held to raise awareness of the issues plastic poses to our environment and our health. Ian Thomson, Kyle Rose, Luke Mairs and Tristram Mairs set off at Airlie Beach at 2pm on Friday and headed to Hamilton Island. The next day they continued to paddle a massive distance of 50nm across Mackay Harbor on their 17’0″ Naish Glides. On their encounter they had to fight winds, swells and heavy currents and even had an interesting encounter with a hammerhead shark. Exhausted but stoked they arrived at their destination and fulfilled their mission.
