Naish’s Kody Kerbox Paddles For A Cause At The 2014 Paddle Imua
The 3rd Annual Paddle Imua presented by Bluesmiths made its 2014 debut on Saturday, May 3rd. The event officially “kicked-off” Maui’s downwind season as the community joined together for a good cause on the legendary Maliko Run.
Kody Kerbox and his Naish Javelin 14’0” LE joined over 150 outrigger, SUP and prone paddlers for the benefit of Maui’s children with special needs. Conditions were described as “brutal” as the extreme heat was on and the usually strong trade winds, which make the Maliko Run along Maui’s North Shore so unique, did not partake.
Kody completed the grueling 10-mile “no-winder downwinder” in 1:15:35, just 1 minute behind the 1st place finisher. Amazing job Kody!
Although the wind gods weren’t on anyone’s side, the cause was more than worth every stroke. Congratulations to all those that participated!
